Paul Atkinson

Senior Physiotherapist

Paul is a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with a passion for both self-development and improving client outcomes. Using a collaborative approach to enable and empower you to achieve your individual goals is central to Paul’s practice.

Having graduated with an honours degree in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin, Paul began working in the world renowned Sports Surgery Clinic in Ireland. Here he worked under the tutelage of expert clinicians and researchers in the prestigious SSC Athletic Groin Pain and ACL clinic, which began his love for integrating high level strength and conditioning principles with rehabilitation. This ensured not just return to play or baseline, but return to high level performance.

Paul moved to Perth in 2016, and has worked in private practice and sport as well as providing Physiotherapy and Injury Management Services to BHP and RioTinto. He continues to provide Occupational expertise to BHP’s Nickel Refinery in Kwinana. Working in this area has allowed Paul to roll out injury prevention and wellness programs, alongside injury management services. Being able to reduce injuries, improve workers health and lifestyle, as well as managing complex cases has given Paul additional skills in an area where Physiotherapists can be highly effective.

To further his skills, and to strive to improve his clients outcomes; Paul completed his Post-Graduate degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in the esteemed University of Queensland. Here he developed a passion for the integration of advanced manual therapy techniques, alongside individually tailored exercise therapy in the management of musculoskeletal disorders.

Paul has an extensive experience in both competing and working in sports. Having worked with a wide range of athletes from the recreational to international competitors. He completed extensive strength and conditioning training, and has prioritised this as a key part of both his own training and his clients.

In terms of Paul's favourite form of MOTION outside of clinic he considers himself an all round average performer in running, rugby union, weight lifting and endeavours to practice what he preaches by staying physically active, maintaining both a healthy mind and body, as well spending time with loved ones.
