Diabetes Exercise Program at PROmotion
All patients must have a 45 minute initial assessment with one of our Exercise Physiologists which involves a full past and present medical history, a physical examination to assess cardiovascular, respiratory and musculoskeletal function plus a collaborative discussion with regards to the individuals needs and goals to ensure the tailored program that is developed is specific to that person.Group Sessions
Our Diabetes program is run on a monthly basis with 2 sessions per week for 4 weeks. Currently sessions occur on a Tuesday and Thursday at 3pm.
1 hour session: 40-45 minutes of Exercise and 15-20 minutes of Education.
Education topics include; Understanding Type 2 Diabetes, Exercise, Hypoglycaemic and Hyperglycaemic Episodes, Medications and Monitoring BSL, In the Kitchen, Short and Long Term Complications of Diabetes
The initial assessment and Diabetes program can be bulk billed through the Group Allied Health Services under Medicare for people with Type 2 Diabetes when referred by GP.
